Overview

The Financial Trading Laboratoryis a state-of-the-art teaching and research centre with cutting edge technology. It is located at the fourth floor of the S H Ho Academic Building of Hang Seng Management College. As the centrepiece of the college, the Financial Trading Laboratory provides firsthand exposure to financial concepts such as trading, portfolio construction, corporate finance concepts, and risk management.

The 160m2 facility comprises two parts: the main trading floor and the adjacent wealth management centre, which simulates the environment for high level private banking meeting with High Net Worth Clients (HNWC). In total, the Financial Trading Laboratory is equipped with 36 workstations and 24 of them are equipped with flat panel dual displays as Bloomberg Terminals. Each workstation is equipped with real-time data and financial software and technologies.

In the Financial Trading Laboratory, students implement the theory they learn in lecture theatre with hands-on exposure to the trading buzz of activity thereby gaining insightful working knowledge of the financial markets, products and trading activities. Therefore the design of the Financial Trading Laboratory is not a classic lecture room setting but rather it resembles the ergonomics of the modern day trading room in a row-by-row setting front to front.
