Excel Add-in & Exporting Options

  • When you open Excel, you will see the Bloomberg tab on the Excel taskbar

 

  • These 3 functions will be used more often:
  1. Data Navigation
  2. Real-Time / Historical
  3. Financials/Estimates

 

  • A Bloomberg Import Data Wizard will appear when you press these tabs. It will guide and enable you step-by-step to import Bloomberg data into an Excel spreadsheet and customise the data

 

 

1. Data Navigation

  • Follow instructions on the Wizard window and select the data type you want
  • Easily drag/drop data into Excel for a security
  • For example:

 

 

2. Real-Time / Historical

  • Use Wizards to get Bloomberg data into excel without using formulae
  • Select one of the Wizards depending on your needs

3. Financials/Estimates

  • Use the Fundamental Analysis Wizard and choose the data type option according to your needs
  • Follow the instructions step-by-step on the Data Wizard to build the data set
  • Finally, the spreadsheet updates with the data you requested

Other downloading and exporting options

1. Drag/Drop icon
  • Some functions display a drag and drop icon in the top right corner of the screen
  • Click and hold the Drag/Drop icon into the desired cell to download the entire set of ticker symbols from the page
2. Functions from the menu bar
  • Press the red button “Export to Excel” (sometimes named “Output“)
  • Some screens display the “Download to Excel” option
3. The Export icon displays a list of export options on the panel’s toolbar Print Screen – Prints the current screen Grab Screen – Allows you to send any Bloomberg screen image as a message attachment Save Screen as File – Saves a GIF image of the current screen to a computer directory you specify Upload Screen to PFM – Uploads an image of the current screen to the Personal File Manager (PFM) function View Screen as Image – Displays an image of the screen as a .bmp file
